This week’s Boots N’ All adventure is to St. Valentine’s Peak – very prominent in the north-west, and from the coastal areas and from south it looks very conical, although it’s more of a ridge from side-on.

Walk Route:
Starting from approx. 500 metres above sea level, the peak reaches 1106 metres but while steep, not a difficult walk, about half of the distance being on disused logging roads.
How to get there:
In case you want to go there again, here’s how to get there: From Burnie, head south on the Ridgley Hwy until you get to Hampshire. Turn left at Hampshire on to Upper Natone Rd. and then approx. 1 km along, turn south into Kara Rd. Turnoff to south about 5.5km down that road and travel approx. 1 km to car parking spot. After 250 metres, a creek crossing (boots off or very wet feet – take wetsuit booties or some other wettable footwear if you like) and continue up north ridge of mountain, partly on old logging roads. About 4 km each way from car park.
(I last did this walk in 2008. No idea whether a footbridge has been built since then. Assume NOT!!)
