You are invited to join Graham Alexander – walk leader, for a leisurely stroll around the Tasmanian Arboretum, near Devonport, next Saturday, 12th July. This walk is rated as “family” and is certainly one of the easiest for the year, with shorter travelling distance, a late start and early finish. Definitely suitable for young children, and the main circuit roads and some of the walks would be accessible for prams and wheelchairs (check this with Graham if unsure). You can preview the location at www.tasmanianarboretum.org.au Normally, an entry fee of $5 per adult applies (children free), but Graham has arranged for free admission, and suggests we might want support the Tree Park Café instead, and enjoy some coffee or similar.
Graham, a long time supporter of the Arboretum with a wealth of local knowledge, suggests we have morning tea on arrival, walk around the site, check out the Tas natives section, (brush up on your plant I.D. knowledge), have lunch together, then time’s your own after that (more walks to do or go home!)

The departure time is 9 am from the Door of Hope Church car park, Launceston. Alternatively, you can meet us at the Arboretum at 10:15 am.
If you would like to arrange to meet the group at these places or elsewhere, please arrange with the leader, and please be at any meeting place 5 minutes ahead of departure time.
The leader should always be notified of any other people you intend to bring along, and you should always contact the walk leader if intending to participate in a particular Boots N’ All walk.

Grades on the main walks are easy, with a couple of short steeper climbs on the western hill.
To access this area from northern Tasmania: To access the walk from Launceston, head towards Devonport on the Bass Highway (100 km), cross the bridge at Devonport and turn left towards Quoiba. Approximately 3 km south, turn right into Kelsey Tier Road, and follow that road through to the junction of Melrose Rd. (about 3 km). Turn hard right into Melrose Rd. and head 2km west to Old Tramway Rd. which is the access for Tasmanian Arboretum.
As a slightly shorter (by 2km) alternative, leave the Bass Highway to go through Latrobe and cross the river, following the B19 right until reaching Tarleton Rd. Turn left into Tarleton Rd. and go just over 3 km to junction of Sheffield Rd. 100 metres after turning left onto Sheffield Rd, turn right into Melrose Rd. Old Tramway Rd. (access to Tas. Arboretum) should be reached about 5 km on.
Warnings:
No warnings apart from a reminder that weather in Tasmania can be very changeable in July, so warm clothing, sensible shoes and a raincoat should be carried.
